Don't Be Afraid of Social Media!

There is a lot of discussion in the media about how your social media presence can hurt you in your job search. Nothing could be further from the truth! Progressive organizations, like All Children's Hospital, realize the key role social media plays in our professional lives.

Are you using social tools? You're probably on Facebook, which is becoming an important part of the job search process now that graph search is up and running. Have you experimented with this powerful new job search option? Test it out, learn more about the people and companies you want to work for, including us!

What about Twitter? Did you know that we just hired a nurse who found her new job through one of our tweets? Very cool. Check out the #ACHjobs hashtag and keep up with us!


Lots of Options
It can be a bit overwhelming when trying to decide which social channels to jump into, right? Don't worry...the key is focusing on a couple and maximizing their potential. The best one to start with is LinkedIn. It only takes a few minutes to set up your initial profile, and you'll be ready to go. Make sure you add a picture, and personalize your information. Over time you can add additional information to keep your profile fresh. 
 

For those organizations that are still paranoid or hyper-sensitive about social media - I wish them good luck. Why? Because quite frankly I don't know anyone who would want to work for an employer that is so out of touch with reality.
