One of the best parts of working on team is collaboration. I have to believe each of us gains some sort of benefit from listening to our work colleagues share their ideas and really dig deep to either find a solution, resolve an issue, change a process or generate a new one.
The dynamic of that working group can be super productive and they can accomplish a tremendous amount and develop and generate ideas that make a difference in the workplace.
Like-minded people? Shared vision? People with similar skills or background?
No, not exactly.
Much like the team you work with daily, having a variance in thinking, skills and background helps to generate thoughtful ideas.
This is how you should hire! Avoid the Stepford Wives Syndrome and hire people that are NOT like you, but bring a variance of ideas and skills – I digress.
As an active participant in collaborative efforts, I thrive on the different opinions and suggestions that come from those who have had different experiences and come from a different background. Working towards a shared vision and goal is always going to be the task, it’s the discussion that happens on the way there is the best!
So bring your experiences, ideas and vision to us here at All Children's Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine and check out all of the opportunities here!
